Deewajee wins GSC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – West Alabama women's tennis player Irawan Deewajee won Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week based on her outing against Grand Valley State.

Deewajee who goes by Ming, won her singles and doubles match during the match against GVS.

Paired with Almudena Sanz, the duo played #2 doubles and took down Vera Griva and Vasileia Griva 6-0.

Playing #4 singles, Ming bested Vasileia Griva 6-3, 7-5 to help the Tigers get the win against the Lakers 7-0.

The freshmen and the rest of the UWA women's tennis team will be in Pensacola, Fla. against Angelo State on Wednesday.
