LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis team is set to resume their conference schedule on the road on Wednesday with a 2:00 p.m. matchup against Montevallo.
No. 5 West Alabama (12-3, 1-1 GSC) enters Wednesday's matchup against Montevallo (5-4, 1-3 GSC) on a five-match winning streak. As for the Falcons, they come into the matchup after picking up a 4-2 win over Southern Arkansas last Monday.
As a team, UWA is 27-14 in doubles play and are led by the duo of Shaira Rivera and Alexa Milliam. The tandem of Rivera/Milliam is 9-2 this season and are consistent on Line One. The duo of Nanoka Kazama and Greta Zawels has also been great for the Tigers as they bring in a record of 8-3.
In singles play, Kazama and Jenaila Prulla are two of the best on Lines Five and Six in the country. On Line Five, Kazama is 11-1 on the year while Prulla remains undefeated at 11-0. Rivera holds down Line One and is the 10th ranked singles player in the country. The Graduate Student is 8-6 on the season and continues to play top notch tennis at the top of West Alabama's lineup. On Line Three, Valentina Mutilba continues to grow in singles play, holding a 6-3 record in 2026.
With so much talent on the Tigers' roster, Montevallo will have to play near perfect tennis to upset UWA.
The Falcons have gotten off to a slow start in GSC play as their lone win came against Christian Brothers open the season. Montevallo is 25-25 in singles play as a team and 13-11 in doubles.
Klara Podskubkova and Claire Jaramba are a combined 5-3 in Line One singles this season while Sophia Baillos leads the team with five singles wins. In doubles play, the duos of Anna Nevada Henriksen/Ella De Jesus and Jaramba/Podskubkova are both over .500 this season.
First serve for Wednesday's match between West Alabama and Montevallo is set for 2:00 p.m.
