Women's Tennis to Face Montevallo in Road GSC Match

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The No. 14^th ranked West Alabama women's tennis team travels to No. 71^st ranked Montevallo on Tuesday in the Tiger's Gulf South Conference regular season finale, with the first serve scheduled for 1 p.m. at the UM Tennis Center in Montevallo, Ala.

The Tigers have won 50 of the last 56 GSC regular season matches and have won back-to-back GSC Regular Season Championships. The Tigers have locked up the No. 1 overall seed in the conference tournament which will be April 28^th-30^th.

Katia de la Garza is 13-0 in her singles matches, she has played No. 2 and No. 3 singles during the year. Almudena Sanz is 15-2 in singles play with all the matches played at No. 1 singles. Sanz is ranked No. 16 in the latest ITA Singles Rankings.

Haina Franco is 12-2 in singles play this season playing No. 2 and No. 3 singles and is the highest ranked UWA player in the singles rankings coming in at No. 12 in the nation. The 12^th ranking is best of players ranked in the GSC.

In doubles, Garza and Franco are ranked No. 11 in the ITA Doubles Rankings and have compiled a 11-5 record in doubles matches.

Montevallo's women are led by Eva Dirr and Mireia Turro. Dirr is 9-7 in singles play and 6-3 in conference singles matches. Turro is ranked No. 54 in the ITA Singles Poll.
