UWA Softball Visits Spring Hill

MOBILE, Ala. - West Alabama softball team is set to take on Spring Hill in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Murray Field.

The Tigers head into the game with a 25-19 overall record and are 15-12 in GSC play. The Badgers are 23-14 overall and are 16-3 in the conference.

Cassie Matlock is leading the Tigers with a .424 batting average, ranking her fourth in the GSC. The senior outfielder has tallied 59 hits on 139 at bats with nine doubles, five triples and two home runs. Matlock has collected 31 RBIs and scored 39 runs. She has stolen 28 bases on her 33 attempts. She is ranked first in triples, second in stolen bases, fourth for runs scored, and fifth in the GSC for hits.

Kacy Noland is hitting .380, ranking her 11th in the GSC. The pitcher has 142 at bats, 54 hits with 13 doubles, three triples, and seven home runs. Noland has recorded 46 RBIs and has scored 39 runs. Her 133 at bats ranks her fifth in the GSC, sixth for hits, fourth for doubles, 13th for triples, third in runs scored, and first in hit by pitch.

Hannah Mynard and LP Trammell are also on the GSC leader board in doubles. Mynard is ranked third with 13 doubles, and Trammell is ranked ninth with 11. Kelsie Gilliam is ranked third in the conference for stolen bases with 24.

Mynard is leading the Tigers' pitchers with 89 strikeouts, ranking her fourth in the GSC over 111.2 innings. She has also claimed 12 wins in the circle, ranking her seventh in the conference.

As a unit, UWA is ranked fifth by the NCAA Division II College Softball rankings for stolen bases per game and total stolen bases. The Tigers average 6.5 runs per game, which is ranked 27th in total runs for Division II.

Paityn Desormeaux is hitting .375 for the Badgers. She has 36 hits with 12 doubles and one triple. She has collected 25 RBIs and scored 22 runs.
