UWA Softball Set to Host Elite Camps

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama softball head coach Stephanie Defeo is set to host Defeo's Elite Softball Camps on June 6, June 20, and July 12. Ages 8 through 18 are welcomed.

There will be four sessions available. Pitching and catching, hitting/slapping, defense, and a game simulation showcase.

The pitching and catching session will run from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. During the pitching session, pitchers will focus on proper mechanics, work on movement pitches, increasing velocity, and the mental aspects of pitching. Each pitcher must bring their own catcher.

The catchers' session will include work on the mechanics of receiving, framing, blocking, transitions (throwing), footwork, and how to set up a batter (pitch calling).

The hitting/slapping session will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The hitting and slapping session will focus on all aspects of fundamental mechanics, including increasing power, bat speed, proper balance and footwork, and the mental aspects of hitting.

The defense session for infielders and outfielders will run from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The defensive session will work on positional breakdown, proper mechanics, including footwork, angles, glove work, and throwing, and situational instruction.

The last session will be a game simulation showcase from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. This session is for athletes to showcase their entire game. Athletes will be put on teams to play full game speed. Spots will be limited!

Camp cost is $65 for a single session. $120 for two sessions. $150 for three sessions. $180 for four sessions. A discount is only applied when registering for multiple sessions in the same transaction.
