61 Tigers Earn Degrees This Spring

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Sixty-one University of West Alabama student-athletes will participate in 2022 Spring Commencement Exercises Saturday morning at Tiger Stadium on the UWA campus. The spring total brings the combined number of Tiger student-athletes to earn a degree in the most recent academic year to 117.

"We are so proud of these student-athletes for everything they have accomplished both in the classroom and in their arenas of competition," UWA Director of Athletics Kent Partridge said. "As we always say, we want all our student-athletes to finish their time as a Tiger with both a championship ring and a degree.

"They have put in countless time and effort into endeavoring to accomplish both," Partridge said. "These graduating Tigers have done both a great and unenviable job navigating uncharted pandemic waters over the last couple of years."

Twenty-five will graduate as UWA Scholar-Athletes and seven more were recently inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society.

UWA Scholar-Athletes must have a cumulative 3.0 grade point average and have finished their eligibility at West Alabama. Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes college student-athletes who receive a varsity letter in their sport, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full-time semester, and earn a 3.40 or higher cumulative GPA.

Commencement begins at 10 a.m. Tickets will be required to attend the ceremony and every person attending must have one, regardless of age. Each participating graduate will have received four tickets for their ceremony and no additional tickets are available.
