LIVINGSTON, Ala. – University of West Alabama assistant basketball coach Veronica Ryan has been promoted to associate head coach, according to an announcement today by Tiger head coach Rusty Cram

"Coach Ryan has worked tirelessly the past three seasons and has made a big impact on our program," Cram said. "I believe she has a very bright future ahead of her. This is a well-earned title change for her."

Ryan was named the UWA assistant women's basketball coach on May 20, 2019. She has spent three seasons with the Tigers.

"UWA is a special place, and I love the upward direction in which our program is moving," Ryan said. "I'm honored and so thankful that Coach Cram has the confidence in my work to elevate me to this position."

Prior to joining the Tiger staff, Ryan was at College of Central Florida, where she was an assistant coach for two years and handled interim head coaching duties.

Before starting her coaching career, Ryan played two seasons at Georgia College and State University, graduating in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.

Ryan spent one season at Nicholls State University before transferring to GCSU. Ryan started her collegiate career at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth, Florida, where she earned First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference while serving as the team captain.

Ryan was also a participant (2017) and panelist (2018) in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's "So You Want to Be a Coach" program. She also served as a high school assistant and AAU coach.
