15 Tigers Named NFCA All-American Scholar Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of  West Alabama softball team placed 15 student-athletes on the Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar Athletes award list. 

Taylor Clegg, Peyton Coots, Kelsie Gilliam, Rylie Grantz, Lexy House, Kailey Hunt, Kendall Johnson, Cassie Matlock, Karley McDaniel, Hannah Mynard, Grace Self, Mary Grace Sheffield, Riley Sullivan, LP Trammell, and Kori Young received the honor for their excellence in the classroom.

The Tigers finished the 2022 season with a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.62, which ranked UWA 23rd among 97 NCAA Division II universities. West Alabama led the GSC with the highest GPA. 

The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories. Team GPAs and scholar-athletes are submitted by member head coaches.
