Softball Opens GSC Series Against UWG on Saturday

CARROLLTON, Ga. - West Alabama's softball team opens up Gulf South Conference play in a three-game road series against West Georgia beginning Saturday at University Softball Field.

The Tigers and Wolves are scheduled to open the three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday at noon CT, followed by a single game on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.

The Tigers enter the series with a 6-3 overall record after competing against non-conference opponents in two tournaments. The Wolves are 1-6 overall. UWG's only win of the season came from Spring Hill on Feb. 4

Senior LP Trammell leads UWA hitters with a .391 batting average. She's tallied nine hits with a double, four home runs, 13 RBIs, and scored five runs.

Taylor Clegg is hitting .360. The third baseman has tallied nine hits with four doubles, four RBIs, and scored 10 runs.

Junior Madison Wright (3-2) is the Tigers' top pitcher. She has pitched 30 innings and has a 2.57 ERA. She has given up 11 earned runs while striking out 24.

R.J. Janke leads UWG with a batting average of .368. She has tallied seven hits with two doubles and collected two RBIs.
