Women’s Tennis Takes Down West Georgia

CARROLLTON, Ga. – West Alabama women's tennis team took down West Georgia 6-1, Wednesday afternoon at Sunset Hills Country Club.

"I am so proud of our women's team," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "A conference win is always a good win. It was good playing in some tough windy conditions to prep our girls for future matches."

The Tigers improve to 6-0 overall record. The wolves dropped to 3-2 overall.

In doubles play, the Tigers came out quick securing the point by winning at No. 2 court, 6-0 and No. 3 court, 6-1.

In singles play, UWA's Hardija Vidnere claimed the first singles point for the Tigers at No. 4 court, 6-1, 6-4. Haina Franco moved to 6-0 after defeating Luliia Dmitrieva 6-1, 6-3 at No.1 court. Heden Ly clinched the match on No. 3 court defeating Karla Menendez, 6-3, 6-2.

With a 4-0 score, the Tigers played out the rest of the matches. Shortly, after the clinch Emiri Takanishi and Ming Deewajee won at No. 5 and No. 6 court.
