Women’s Tennis Falls to LA Tech Sunday Afternoon

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama women's tennis team fell to LA Tech, 4-1, Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match.

"We ran up against a very tough team and I feel a lot of the women were mentally and physically tired from this last week," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "We will rest and regroup and be ready for Senior Day Thursday."

The Tigers are 16-4 overall. The Bulldogs are 14-4 overall.

In doubles play, Hardija Vidnere and Heden Ly defeated LAT's Tiffani Nash and Valentina Vazquez on court No. 3, 6-3. The Takanishi sisters were defeated on court No. 2, 6-4 by LAT's Alexia Romero and Olga Bienzobas. Haina Franco and Ming Deewajee were defeated by LAT's Najah Dawson and Ana Rodrigues, 7-6 on court No. 1.

In singles play, Yurie Takanishi was defeated by LAT's Najah Dawson on court No. 2, 6-1, 6-2. Emiri Takanishi fell to LAT's Ilana Tetruashvili on court No. 5, 6-3, 6-2. Franco defeated LAT's Olga Bienzobas on court No. 1, 6-4, 6-4. Vidnere was defeated by LAT's Ana Rodrigues on court No. 4, 6-4, 6-3. Ly and Deewajee went unfinished on court No. 3 and No. 6.
