Stanbridge Named GSC Freshman of the Year, Four Tigers Earn All-GSC Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The West Alabama softball first baseman Ann Marie Stanbridge was named Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year and earned First Team All-GSC. Pitcher Madison Wright, shortstop LP Trammell, and catcher Kelsie Gilliam also earned All-GSC honors. 
 
Stanbridge has had a phenomenal freshmen season. She leads the GSC with 21 home runs and is tied for fourth nationally. She ranks second in the conference in RBIs with 66 and ranks ninth nationally. Stanbridge has a batting average of .340 with 52 hits, nine doubles, and two triples. She also has a .837 slugging percentage ranking third in the GSC and 11th nationally. She has a .962 fielding percentage with 208 putouts and 20 assists. 
 
Junior pitcher, Wright earned First Team All-GSC. Wright threw three perfect games this season, two against conference opponents (Montevallo & Lee). She also threw two no-hitters against conference opponents. Wright has thrown seven shutouts this season with six five-inning run ruled victories. 
 
The Douglas, Alabama native made 34 appearances in the circle. She has pitched 191.2 innings, giving up only 62 earned runs this season on 136 hits for a 2.26 ERA. She ranks second in the conference in strikeouts with 191 and third in batters struck out looking with 41.  
 
Wright is ranked in multiple categories in the conference. She leads the GSC in wins in the circle with 25. She ranks second in opposing batting average, ERA, and innings pitched. 
 
Trammell earned Second Team All-GSC honors. Trammell hits .341 for the Tigers with a .826 slugging percentage, ranking her 14th nationally. She has tallied 47 hits with nine doubles and two triples. Trammell has hit 18 bombs this season, ranking her third in the GSC in home runs and tied for 10th nationally. The Germantown, Mississippi native ranks ninth in the conference in RBIs (47) and runs scored (47).
 
The junior catcher Gilliam earned Second Team All-GSC honors. Gilliam leads the GSC in stolen bases with 55 and ranks fourth nationally and fifth in stolen bases per game. The Moundville, Alabama native is hitting .316 with three doubles and three triples, ranking her ninth in the GSC in triples. Gilliam's 53 runs scored ranked her fourth in the GSC. She has a .994 fielding percentage with 295 putouts and 18 assists. She ranks fourth in the GSC in fielding percentage and second in putouts.
 
The Tigers finished the regular season with a 38-11 overall record and went 19-5 in conference play to clinch the No. 3 seed in the GSC Championship Tournament. 
 
UWA battled Montevallo and won 6-5 in the first game of the tournament. The Tigers defeated the No. 2 seed Mississippi College 4-2 on day two of the tournament. The Tigers will play the winner of game 10 (No. 6 Seed Montevallo vs. Auburn Montgomery) Friday at 6 p.m. at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama.
