LIVINGSTON, Ala. - After putting together career seasons this Fall, the University of West Alabama Football team's
Trevon Lambert and
Elijah Guyton were named AFCA First Team All-Americans on Wednesday.
Lambert tabs the first All-American selection of his career after turning in a monster year off the edge for the Tigers. The 6'3 205 pound graduate student was one of the top edge rushers in the country, recording a career-high 11.0 sacks and a career-high 14.5 tackles for loss. Lambert's 11.0 sacks led the country at the end of the regular season and currently ranks third in the nation, including playoff games. West Alabama's standout Edge Rusher now adds a First Team All-American selection to his 2024 resume that also includes a First Team All-GSC selection, a First Team All-Region selection, and Gene Upshaw and Harlon Hill Award nominations. With his UWA career coming to a close, Lambert plans to progress his athletic career as he's officially declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Guyton's stellar 2024 campaign was recognized with a plethora of awards with none standing above an AFCA First Team All-American selection. The Tigers' Placekicker earns this distinction after leading the country in field goal percentage for a large portion of the year. The redshirt sophomore ended the 2024 season 15-19 on field goals while knocking through 35 extra points, leading to 80 total points which ranks third in the GSC. Guyton buried four kicks from 40 plus yards, solidifying himself as the top Placekicker in Division II.
Both Lambert and Guyton are in consideration for D2CCA All-American selections which will be announced later this month.
