LIVINGSTON, Ala. - After winning nine games and making an appearance in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs, the University of West Alabama Football team received three All-Region selections with
Allen Jones Jr. and
Elijah Guyton being named to the First Team while
Trevon Stanford earned second team honors.
The West Alabama trio becomes the program's first All-Region selections in five years.
Jones Jr. adds a First Team All-Region selection to his resume after putting together a career year on the Tigers' offensive line. The Junior started all 11 games at Right Tackle for UWA in 2024, leading West Alabama to the top of the country in a handful of offensive categories. Bolstered by Jones Jr., the Tigers finished the season 23rd in the country in sacks allowed while their 31.3 points per game ranked 34th in the nation. UWA also possessed one of the most potent rushing attacks in Division II as they recorded 190.0 rushing yards per game which sits them 22nd in the country and second in the GSC.
As for Guyton, he was one of the top Place Kickers in the country in 2024. The redshirt sophomore made 15 of his 19 field goal attempts with a long of 45 yards, putting him in the top-10 in the nation in field goal percentage. The Kicker also put through 35 PATs, registering 80 points on the year which put him second in the conference amongst all active players. Along with his First Team All-Region selection, Guyton was named First Team All-GSC and a nominee for the Fred Mitchell Award earlier in the year.
The 'Quarterback' of the West Alabama defense was undoubtedly
Trevon Stanford. Stanford was the anchor of a UWA defensive unit that resides as one of the best in school history. With Stanford in the middle of the defense, the Tigers allowed 13.5 points per game which ranked ninth in the country, while holding teams to 272 yards per game which ranked 19th. Individually, the Graduate Linebacker registered 60 tackles, 12.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three QB hurries, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. In November, Stanford was named First Team All-GSC, making it the third time in his career that he's received All-GSC honors.
Jones Jr., Guyton, and Stanford will now be nominees for All-American selections which will be announced in the coming weeks.
