EMPORIA, Kan. – One day after qualifying for the 100-meter finals, the University of West Alabama's
Yakubu Balikis will also run the 200 finals after qualifying in the preliminaries of the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday evening from the campus of Emporia State University.
Her time of 23.32 was good for sixth best overall and third among at-large qualifiers. Similar to the preliminaries in the 100, the top three winners in each heat automatically qualify for the finals. The five remaining spots are taken from the fastest times from the three heats.
Competing in the second heat, the graduate student got close to catching Denisha Cartwright of Minnesota State, who finished with a 23.30.

After qualifying for the 100-meter final on Thursday, Balikis will now run in two final events on Saturday. The 100 final will take place at 3:35 p.m., and the 200 final will occur at 4:50 p.m. Live coverage can be found at
