LIVINGSTON, Ala. — West Alabama women's basketball returns to Pruitt Hall this week for its first home conference stand of the season, hosting Lee University on Thursday and Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday. The Tigers look to build momentum on their home floor after a competitive opening stretch in Gulf South play against Valdosta State and West Florida.
UWA enters the week led offensively by Bellah Machen, who is averaging 14.4 points per game. Defensively, Callie Cowan anchors the Tigers with 1.8 steals per contest, while Haley Nichols controls the glass with a team-best 7.4 rebounds per game.
The Tigers open the week against a red-hot Lee squad riding a three-game win streak. The Flames enter at 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the GSC, most recently rolling past Auburn Montgomery 79-56. Lee was led by Abby McFarland, who posted 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists in the win. The Flames bring a balanced, efficient offense and a disciplined defensive unit that has held opponents under 60 points in four straight contests.
On Saturday, UWA hosts a Trevecca team that mirrors Lee's strong start at 5-1 and 2-0 in league action. The Trojans are coming off a 76-57 victory over Montevallo, powered by former Falcon Jordan Gillies. She poured in 25 points while adding six rebounds, three steals, and three assists
