LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Men's Basketball team made their debut in the NABC Top-25 Poll this week as they're ranked No. 18 in the country.
The Tigers are off to a historic start in the 2025-26 season as they sit at 10-1 overall, 11 games into the year, leading to their No. 18 ranking.
UWA stands as the only GSC team within the top-25 while also being the only team undefeated in conference play.
West Alabama currently has a margin of victory of 17.5 points which ranks 14th in the nation. The Tigers' identity is their defense, holding opposing teams to 61.4 points per game on 38.1 percent shooting, standing as the ninth and 11th best marks in all of Division II. Offensively, UWA is shooting 41.5 percent from three, putting them third in the country in that category. With BJ Brown Jr. and Travion McCray running the offense, West Alabama is only averaging 10 turnovers per game, the 13th fewest amount of turnovers in the country.
Individually, Christian Thompson has proven to be one of the best rebounders in the nation. The 6'9" Forward is currently third in the nation with 11.3 rebounds per game. At Point Guard, Brown Jr. is one of the top playmakers in the country, ranking 10th in Division II with 5.8 assists per game.
West Alabama will return to action on Tuesday, December 30 for a 5:00 p.m. home matchup against Williams Baptist.
