LIVINGSTON, Ala. - After shining bright amongst a Division I field at the Samford Bulldog Invitational this past Saturday, Yakubu Balikis and Jamarion Walker picked up GSC Weekly awards on Wednesday with Balikis being named the GSC Track Athlete of the Week while Walker was named the Freshman of the Week, presented by Truist.

After being named an All-American last season, Balikis began her encore season by recording a PR in the 60m event, finishing in a time of 7.63 seconds. The Graduate Student's time was good enough for a fifth place finish, while the sprinter also picked up a top-10 finish in the 200m race, placing eighth with a time of 25.03 seconds.

As for Walker, he made a thunderous introduction to the country in his first collegiate meet on Saturday. The freshman competed in the 400m event and picked up a 15th place finish, crossing the line with a 51.98 time.

Balikis, Walker, and the Tigers will get back to work on March 1 when they travel to Clinton, Mississippi for the Mississippi College Open.
