LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis team reclaimed their spot within the ITA top-25 rankings as the Tigers are ranked 17th in this week's poll.
West Alabama jumps up 10 spots in the poll after defeating No. 18 West Florida, 4-3, last Tuesday and Delta State, 7-0, this past Wednesday.
Nine matches into the year, UWA stands at 6-3 and remain undefeated in conference play with a 3-0 GSC record. The doubles duo of Shaira Rivera and Valentina Mulitba continue to stand above all as the tandem remains ranked as the top doubles team in the country.
Individually, the Tigers' number one in singles, Rivera, makes her debut into the rankings, coming in at No. 64. On the Men's side, Eita Ishikawa sits in the No. 63 spot while the doubles tandem of Federico Iturbe and Jacob Tapia rank 43rd in the nation. A couple of spots below Iturbe and Tapia sits the duo of Afonso Portugal and Tomas Almeida as they come in at No. 49 in this week's poll.
West Alabama will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday with home matchups against Ouachita Baptist and Arkansas Tech on the docket with both slated to begin at 10:00 a.m.
