LIVINGSTON, Ala. - After leading the University of West Alabama Softball team to a flawless week, Madison Wright was named the GSC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this year on Tuesday.
Wright takes home another GSC Weekly Award after pitching 20.0 innings in four appearances this past week. The lefty continues to be the anchor of the Tigers' pitching rotation as she recorded two wins and a save in her four appearances, while also racking up 19 strikeouts with a season-high 11 coming against Columbus State in Game One on Tuesday. In Game Two against the Cougars, Wright entered the ball game in the final frame with the game in the balance and got UWA out of a jam to secure her first save of the season and a 6-5 win for the Tigers.
The senior followed up her impressive series against Columbus State with more mastery against Delta State this past weekend. After pitching 5.0 innings in Game One against the Statesmen, Wright registered her eighth complete game of the season in Game Three as she helped West Alabama put a stamp on the series with a sweep, accumulating a line of 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 3 SO.
Wright and the Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Americus, Georgia for a midweek double header against Georgia Southwestern.
