PENSACOLA, Fla. - The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis Team fell, 0-4, to the defending National Champions, Nova Southeastern on Thursday.

A banged up UWA (4-3) team competed against No.15 Nova Southeastern (8-0) on Thursday, resulting in their loss. 

"Tough match against the defending National Champions, especially with some line up players out hurt," said head coach Jeff Beaman. 

Valentina Mutilba and Shaira Rivera were one set away from winning their doubles match before the match was ended since the Sharks had already taken the other two doubles matches, clinching the doubles point.

Mutilba was not able to compete in singles play along with star freshman Alexa Milliam. With Mutilba and Milliam out of singles play, Hukasian, and Greta Zawels were thrusted into Lines Two and Three. Hukasian fell (6-4, 6-3) while Zawels' match was called before it was finished due to Nova Southeastern already clinching the match as a whole. Freshman Abrianna Irvin and Shreya Naik were able to conclude their singles matches in Lines Five and Six but both dropped their matches as Nova Southeastern closed the match with a 4-0 decision.

"I like the way the women competed and they are excited for another battle against DI Wyoming on Saturday." 

West Alabama Women's Tennis will be back in action for an exhibition against Wyoming before returning to regular season play against West Florida on Tuesday.
