LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama Track and Field Team dominated at the UWA Inaugural Track Meet on Saturday, concluding the meet with 11 first-place finishes and 37 top-10 finishes.

West Alabama performed well in their first-ever home track meet on Saturday, highlighted by Mercy Lomuria, who broke the school record in the 3000m, and the Men's 4x100m relay team (A) of T. Payne, A. Young, A. Williams, and L. Walker, who placed first with a time of 41.51. 

Women's Track & Field Highlights 

• 100m Dash:  Yakubu Balikis placed first (11.83). Balikis also placed first in the 200m Dash (24.27), with Erica Smith placing 10th (26.53). 

• 400m Dash: Gabriel Stephens (3rd, 1:01.92), Jamaya Dancy (4th, 1:02.00), Erica Smith (8th, 1:05.92), and Boneica Meadows (9th, 1:06.41).  

• 800m Run: Augusta Arnold won the event (2:18.93), while Jordan Connor placed 3rd (2:29.35) and Autumn Sansing 6th (2:40.77). 

• Javelin: Autumn Sansing placed 5th (30.58m). 

• 4x400m Relay: The team of Augusta Arnold, Jamaya Dancy, Jordan Connor, and Erica Smith secured 1st place (4:10.97). 

• 1500m & 3000m Run: Mercy Lomuria won both events, clocking 4:43.73 (1500m) and a record-breaking 10:14.63 (3000m), surpassing the previous record of 10:48.81 held by Cecelia David. 

Men's Track & Field Highlights 

• 100m Dash: Antonio Young (First, 10.71), Lawrence Walker (Second, 10.76), Ahmerion Williams (Third, 10.95), and Nicholas Nash (Ninth, 11.20). 

• 200m Dash: Lawrence Walker took first place (21.73). 

• 110m Hurdles: Senior Brayden Harris finished second (14.95). 

• 400m Dash: Jamarion Walker (third, 50.40) and Dennis Toles (sixth, 52.36) 

• 800m Run: Brian Easter finished first (1:57.31), followed by Sha'Kenye Darden (second, 1:57.66), Dave Hubert (5th, 2:01.35), and Avante Mackey (sixth, 2:04.93). 

• 1500m Run: Avante Mackey (third, 4:07.61), Jentzen Moore (sixth, 4:09.36), and Gary Mata (ninth, 4:11.29). 

• 3000m Run: Jentzen Moore placed fifth (9:16.61). 

• Javelin: Jaxson Lovelace finished third (51.18m). 

• Shot Put: Dedric Hicks won with a 14.73m throw. 

• Triple Jump: Caleb Vann placed second (13.30m). 

• 4x400m Relay: The (A) team of Jamarion Walker, Michael Harris, Sha'Kenye Darden, and Lawrence Walker placed second (3:25.77). The (B) team of Dennis Toles, Brian Easter, Avante Mackey, and Jayson Lynch finished fifth (3:33.99). 

West Alabama will be back in action next weekend at the Falcon Classic, hosted by the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Ala., on Friday, March 14, and Saturday, March 15.
