ATLANTA, Ga. – The University of West Alabama men's and women's track & field teams competed against strong Division I competition over the weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational, highlighted by three top-five finishes and another standout performance from freshman sprinter
J'Da Williams.
Williams continued her dominant outdoor season with a first-place finish in the women's 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 11.48. The freshman's performance further solidifies her status as one of the top sprinters in Division II and a rising national contender.
She later returned to the track as part of the Tigers' women's 4x100-meter relay team, teaming with
D'Kota Hudson,
Jocelyn Randle, and
Adria Burrell. The quartet turned in a strong performance against elite competition, finishing fifth overall with a time of 46.52.
On the men's side,
Dedric Hicks continued his consistent success in the field events, earning a fourth-place finish in the men's shot put with a throw of 16.53 meters. Hicks once again proved to be one of the Tigers' most reliable performers, competing well against a deep field.
Competing against top-tier talent, West Alabama showed its ability to perform on a big stage, highlighted by podium-level finishes and strong relay performances. The Tigers will look to carry that momentum forward as they now prepare for the GSC Outdoor Championships.
