RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The University of West Alabama Men's and Women's Rodeo team returned to action with fourth place finishes at the Arkansas Tech Rodeo this weekend.
West Alabama's Men's team claimed fourth place with 310 points while the Women also placed fourth with 120 points.
"We made way too many mistakes in order to get a win this weekend," said head coach Daniel Poole. "That will be our focus at practice because that has to change."
MEN'S RODEO
Tanner Brown put together the best performance of the weekend for the Tigers in the Tie Down Roping event. The senior recorded a team-high 110 points with an average of 22.2, contributing a grand amount to UWA's team score of 310.
Brown, alongside Clarke Gordon also showcased their skills in the Team Roping event as the duo both recorded 100 points while Stewart Gallups and Grey Wells combined for 90 points. In the Steer Wrestling event, Wilder Andrews and Evan Bourdon each recorded 45 points while Gavin Lee registered 10 points in Bareback Riding to round out West Alabama's score.
WOMEN'S RODEO
Joanna Hammett led the Tigers on the weekend as the senior registered a team-high 120 points in the Goat Tying event. While Hammett shined in her event, Gabbie Hayes, Ashley Teems, and Millie Joe Rosenberg competed in the Barrell Racing. The trio combined for 155 points with Hays leading the group of Tigers with 80 points.
Summerlin O'Neil rounded out UWA, accumulating 15 points in the Breakaway Roping event to close out the weekend.
West Alabama Rodeo will be back in action on next week for East Mississippi CC's Home Rodeo which will take place in Meridian, Mississippi.
