LIVINGSTON, Ala. - After a historic freshman campaign, The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis' Alexa Milliam was named the GSC Freshman of the Year on Wednesday.
After being named the GSC Freshman of the Week six times and the GSC Player of the Week once this season, Milliam adds the illustrious Freshman of the Year Award to her personal trophy case.
This season, Milliam took the Tennis world by storm, finishing the 2025 regular season with a perfect 16-0 record in singles, making her the only player in the GSC with an undefeated singles record. Half of Milliam's overall wins came in GSC play, with ranked victories coming over West Florida, Columbus State, North Georgia, and Lee. The Philippines native is one of, if not, the most dominant players in the country this season, dropping just three sets all year long. As we enter the postseason, Milliam is ranked No. 16 in the ITA singles rankings which is the highest amongst the Tigers.
Milliam also blossomed in doubles, accumulating a record of 13-1 with her partner Emiri Takanishi. The duo had put together 13 wins in a row before dropping their first match of the year in West Alabama's regular season finale against Saint Leo.
Milliam will begin her postseason campaign on Thursday when the Tigers jump start the GSC Tournament with a matchup against Delta State.
