LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama track and field team will travel to Clinton, Mississippi, this Friday for the Mike McMillan Twilight Invitational, hosted by Mississippi College. With the Gulf South Conference Championships scheduled for next weekend, this meet serves as a crucial final opportunity for athletes to sharpen performances and build competitive consistency ahead of postseason competition.
Following a mixed outing at the Georgia Tech Invitational—highlighted by school records from
Dedric Hicks in the shot put and
Gary Mata in the 1500 meters—the Tigers are aiming to build greater consistency and execution across events. Several individuals notched personal bests, including
Nicholas Nash in the 100-meter dash,
Mikia Hutchings in the 200 meters, and
Sha'Kenye Darden in the 800 meters, as the team continues to develop momentum.
The Mike McMillan Twilight Invitational will serve as UWA's final regular-season event, providing a meaningful test against regional competition as the Tigers work to solidify their championship readiness with the postseason just around the corner.
