LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama Tigers are set to face Trevecca Nazarene in a three-game series at Tartt Field, beginning Friday at 4 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader starting at noon. While the games will be played on West Alabama's home field, they will officially count as home contests for Trevecca Nazarene due to inclement weather forcing a venue change from Nashville.
West Alabama (18-17, 11-10 GSC) enters the series looking to build momentum in Gulf South Conference play. The Tigers' offense is anchored by
Joe Watkins, who leads the team with a .319 batting average, a 1.049 OPS, and six home runs.
Blake Vineyard (.308 AVG, 27 RBIs) and
Nick Wilson (.303 AVG, 27 RBIs) have also been key contributors at the plate.
On the mound,
Bryant Quimby has been a standout for UWA, posting a 2.66 ERA over 50.2 innings with 44 strikeouts.
Maxwell Schumacher (4.46 ERA, 38.1 IP) and
Judah Buckner (0.00 ERA, 13.1 IP, 19 strikeouts) add depth to the Tigers' pitching staff.
Trevecca Nazarene (13-20, 9-12 GSC) enters the series with a .302 team batting average, led by Joey Parliment (.397 AVG, 11 HR, 32 RBI) and Cole McCallum (.393 AVG, 12 2B, 5 HR). The Trojans have shown power at the plate with 40 home runs this season but will look to improve their pitching staff, which holds a 7.29 team ERA.
On the mound, the Trojans' staff has faced challenges in keeping opponents off the board, allowing a .324 batting average against them. Trevecca's rotation is led by Nick Judd, who holds a 4.42 ERA over 32.2 innings with 31 strikeouts. Out of the bullpen, closer Brooks McDonnough has been a reliable arm, posting a 2.87 ERA with one saves. However, as a team, the Trojans have struggled with command, issuing 121 walks across their first 33 games.
With the Tigers aiming to capitalize on playing at home despite the technical designation, the series presents a crucial opportunity for UWA to strengthen its standing in conference play. First pitch is set for Friday afternoon at Tartt Field.
