LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama Track and Field team is set to return to action this weekend at the Meet of Legends, hosted by the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Ga., on April 4-5.
After a series of strong performances in recent meets, including the AI Schmidt Bulldog Relays, the WashU Distance Carnival, and the Billiken Invitational, the Tigers are looking to continue their momentum as they take on top regional competition.
At the AI Schmidt Bulldog Relays, UWA athletes earned 11 top-10 finishes, highlighted by
Mercy Lomuria's second-place finish in the 5000m (17:50.97),
Gary Mata's third-place finish in the men's 5000m (15:49.49), and
Yakubu Balikis' third-place finishes in the 100m (11.59) and 200m (23.75).
The team then traveled to St. Louis, Mo., for the WashU Distance Carnival and Billiken Invitational, where Lomuria and Mata competed in the 5000m, and
Augusta Arnold raced in the 800m at the Billiken Invitational. Now, UWA shifts its focus to Carrollton, Ga., for the Meet of Legends, where several Tigers will aim to build on their performances.
