LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis team jumped three spots to No. 5 in the ITA Top-25 rankings on Wednesday.

This past week, West Alabama (14-6) entered the GSC Tournament ranked eighth in the country and after making it to the Championship match, they head into the NCAA Selection on this upcoming Monday as the fifth ranked team in the nation.

In their GSC Tournament run, the Tigers swept Delta State, before winning a battle against West Florida, 4-2.

Individually, Shaira Rivera moved up to No. 16 in singles, after putting together a 1-1 record in Line One during the GSC Championships. Alexa Milliam comes in right behind Rivera at No. 20, after keeping her perfect singles record in tact this past weekend. Milliam throughly dominated her competition in Line Two, defeating West Florida's Sandra Recuenco and Mississippi College's Rocio Martinez in straight sets. The Freshman is now 18-0 this season with 14 of those wins coming in Line Two.

In doubles, the duo of Rivera and Valentina Mutilba remains the No. 1 ranked tandem in the country. West Alabama's star doubles duo went 2-0 in the GSC Tournament to move to 16-3 on the year.

West Alabama awaits the NCAA Selection Show which is set for Monday, May 5 to see who they will be playing in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
