Marissa Mitchell Named an NFCA Second Team All-American for Second Consecutive Year

Mitchell Becomes the First Player in UWA Softball History to be Named an NFCA All-American in Consecutive Seasons

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - For the second consecutive season, the University of West Alabama Softball's Marissa Mitchell has been named a NFCA All-American after putting together another standout season in 2025.

Mitchell repeats as an All-American, making her the first player in UWA Softball history to be named an NFCA All-American in consecutive seasons.

Mitchell turned in an encore year in 2025 as the Second Baseman led the team in Batting Average, Home Runs, RBIs, Slugging Percentage, On-Base Percentage, and OPS. The senior hit .382 on the season along with 15 Home Runs and 43 RBIs, while accumulating a .862 Slugging Percentage, a .493 On-Base Percentage, and a 1.355 OPS, leading the GSC in all three of those categories. The brightest highlight of Mitchell's campaign came in early March when she went 5-5 with five Home Runs and eight RBIs over the stretch of five games against Christian Brothers and Valdosta State. The senior also mashed two Grand Slams on the year, matching her total from last season.

While flexing her muscle at the plate, Mitchell also proved that her game is complete as she stole 12 bases on 13 attempts, while registering a career-high .970 fielding percentage at Second Base for the Tigers. On top of her fielding percentage, the senior recorded a career-high 96 putouts which put her in the conversation for the Gold Glove Award within the conference.

Mitchell stakes her claim as one of the greatest players in UWA history and is in the running for even more awards. The senior's name is in the mix for the GSC Commissioner's Trophy and a D2CCA All-American selection that will be announced in the coming weeks.
