LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Three University of West Alabama Volleyball players were named to the GSC Newcomers List that was released by the conference on Tuesday.
UWA newcomers, Cadence Goeden, Klára Bobánová, and Jana Petkovic were all named as player's to watch in their first season with the Tigers.
Goeden is slated to make an immediate impact on the offensive side of the net for West Alabama in 2025. The junior transferred in from Pensacola State this summer, after recording 553 kills on a .237 hitting percentage, 183 digs, and 96 blocks in two seasons in the Sunshine State. Last season, the Outside Hitter put down a career-high 336 kills in a .237 hitting percentage, leading to a Second Team All-Conference selection. The Tigers struggled in the offensive category last season, so Goeden is the most likely candidate to lead UWA in attacks this season.
Bobánová brings a mix of talent, size, and athleticism to West Alabama's squad this year. The Outside Hitter played for UNIZA Žilina, UKF Nitra, and Slávia Bratislava in Slovakia throughout her Volleyball career. Bobánová is a known winner as she hold Championship appearances in the Slovak League and the Slovakia Cup, while taking home third place in the Junior's League three different times.
Petkovic will get a ton of reps at Setter this season. The 5'9" Setter hails from Serbia and played for ŽOK "Novi Sad". In 2022, Petkovic was named the best Setter in the territory of Vojvodina, after leading her team to the second place finish in the Super Serbian League.
With Goeden, Bobánová, and Petkovic in the lineup for West Alabama, the Tigers' offensive numbers should take a leap from previous seasons.
