LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Former University of West Alabama Baseball player, Brenton Thiels, signed a professional contract with the Mississippi Mud Monsters on Sunday.
Thiels, who played for UWA in 2022 and 2023, joins the Mud Monsters in time for their Sunday double header against the Schaumburg Boomers and is expected to make an immediate impact.
The Mississippi Mud Monsters are a professional baseball team that is located in Pearl, Mississippi, competing in the Frontier League.
When competing with the Tigers, Thiels appeared in 31 games across two seasons, making nine starts. The 7'0" Right-Hander struck out 73 batters through 77.0 innings of work, while also picking up four wins. Thiels put together his best season in a West Alabama uniform in 2023, recording a 5.18 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 33.0 innings on the mound.
