LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis team is ranked No. 5 in the ITA Division II Preseason Team Rankings.
The fifth ranked Tigers enter the 2026 campaign after compiling a 17-7 overall record and a perfect 8-0 GSC record last season. West Alabama won the GSC Regular Season Championship and were the runner ups in the GSC Tournament, punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament where they fell to Nova Southeastern in the second round.
In 2026, UWA returns their stars in Shaira Rivera, Alexa Milliam, and Valentina Mutilba. The trio combined for 42 singles wins in 2025 while the doubles duo of Rivera and Mutilba ranked No. 1 in the country all throughout the season.
Milliam enters her sophomore season after a historic freshman campaign. Last season, Milliam finished a perfect 19-0 in singles play, leading to the Philippians native being named the National Freshman of the Year and an ITA All-American.
Along with returning their key cornerstones in Rivera, Milliam, and Mutilba, West Alabama also added key transfers in Nanoka Kazama and Jenaila Prulla who are bound to make an immediate impact.
UWA will officially open up their regular season on February 7 at the Vaughan Tennis Complex.
