LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Men's Basketball team came in at No. 12 in the NABC Coaches Poll on Tuesday.
West Alabama falls to No. 12 after a 78-75 loss to West Florida on Thursday and a 75-66 win over Valdosta State on Saturday.
West Florida is currently on the outside looking in, receiving the most votes of all the unranked teams in the country to round out the GSC in the Poll.
As for the Tigers, they remain ranked within the top-10 in six different statistical categories. With Elliot Tulip and Caleb Parr shooting the three ball at a high clip, UWA currently ranks fourth in the country in three-point percentage with a 41.1 percent mark. Defensively, West Alabama is fifth in scoring defense, holding teams to 61.1 points per game on 38.5 percent shooting which is the ninth best mark in the nation. The Tigers are closing out defensive possessions with a defense rebound while hammering the offensive glass, leading to a 10.0 rebounding margin which ranks fifth in the country. With all of these factors, UWA is outscoring teams by an average of 17.2 points, ranking ninth in all of Division II in that category.
Individually, Christian Thompson remains in the top-10 in rebounds with 10.7 boards per game while BJ Brown Jr. ranks in the top-25 in assists with 5.4 dimes per game.
West Alabama will take their No. 12 ranking on the road this week for matchups against Trevecca Nazarene and Lee on Thursday and Saturday.
