LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Football team moved up to No. 22 in the AFCA Coaches Poll on Monday.
The Tigers make the jump from No. 24 to No. 22 after defeating the Chowan Hawks, 29-26 at Tiger Stadium.
GSC school, Valdosta State, also remained in the rankings after their win over Erskine, coming in at 18.
West Alabama remains in the top-25 in multiple statistical categories. The Tigers' defense is second in takeaways with 16, while leading the country in fumble recoveries with nine and ranking 20th in interceptions with seven. Legend Doggett has scored two defensive touchdowns which individually leads the nation.Â
On Special Teams, UWA is 24th in Net Punting with a mark of 38.85.
Offensively, West Alabama's offensive line is 23rd in sacks allowed per game, allowing just 0.83. Luther Richesson is currently 13th in the nation with 13 touchdowns and 19th in passing yards with 1,335.Â
West Alabama is in the midst of their Bye Week and will return to action on October 17 for a matchup against Division I, West Florida in Pensacola, Florida.
