LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After a dominant weekend at the UWA Invitational, West Alabama baseball's
Rashad Robinson has been named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Robinson was the engine behind the Tigers' perfect 4–0 weekend, turning in a string of explosive offensive performances while anchoring the defense in center field. Across four games, Robinson went 8-for-16 at the plate (.500), scoring nine runs and driving in 10 RBIs, while collecting three home runs, a triple, and drawing four walks. He reached base safely in all four contests and delivered multiple momentum-swinging swings, including a six-RBI performance against Albany State and a three-run outing in the invitational finale versus Augusta.
The center fielder capped the weekend with a 2-for-4 effort against Augusta on Sunday, scoring three times and driving in two runs as West Alabama cruised to a 15–1 victory. Defensively, Robinson was flawless, recording nine putouts over the weekend without an error.
Through six games this season, Robinson has been one of the most productive hitters in the GSC, batting .417 with 11 hits, 10 runs scored, and 11 RBIs. He has already totaled three home runs, a double, and a triple, while adding six walks and three stolen bases. His consistency has been matched in the field, where he owns a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 19 chances and no errors.
Robinson's weekly honor highlights West Alabama's historic start to the season, as the Tigers sit 6–0 for the first time in program history and continue to gain regional recognition. UWA will look to carry that momentum forward as it prepares for its next matchup, with Robinson remaining a key catalyst at the top of the lineup.
