LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis' Shaira Rivera was named the GSC Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Rivera earns the distinction of Player of the Week after going a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles play against Division I Samford and Alabama State.

Against the Bulldogs, Rivera dominated Samford's No. 1 singles player, Lea Erenda, (6-1, 6-1) and won 6-4 in doubles action with her partner, Alexa Milliam. 

On Saturday, Rivera continued her impressive week. The graduate student teamed up with Milliam in doubles again and took down Alabama State's No. 1 doubles duo, 6-3. In singles play, Rivera dropped the first set to the Hornets' Diana Craciun before flipping the script and winning (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) to cap off a 4-0 week, individually.

Rivera and Women's Tennis is set to travel to Indianapolis for the ITA Indoor Championships which is set to begin on Friday.
