Softball Heads to Memphis for Three-Game Series Against Bucs

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Softball team continues their road slate this weekend for a three-game GSC road series against the Christian Brothers Buccaneers in Memphis, Tennessee.

Game One is set for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Game Two slated to follow afterwards. The series will conclude on Sunday with Game Three set for 12:00 p.m.

UWA (11-4-1, 2-1 GSC) enters the weekend after winning two out of three against No. 4 AUM last weekend while CBU (3-10, 0-7 GSC) comes in on a seven-game losing streak.

The Tigers put the country on notice this past weekend, by taking the series over the formerly No. 1 ranked team in the country in AUM on the road. During that series, Megan Roe shined in the circle for West Alabama as the senior registered a .082 ERA in 12.0 innings of work across two starts. The Right-Hander blanked AUM in Game Two of the series, going all 7.0 innings while allowing just three hits and striking out a pair. After her performance last weekend, Roe now ranks fifth in the GSC with a 1.57 ERA and is projected to start Game Two for the Tigers on Saturday.

Along with Roe, Eleanor De Block and Ann Marie Stanbridge have been stellar as well. De Block has recorded five wins on the year along with a 2.35 ERA. In 38.2 innings of work, the senior has accumulated 48 strikeouts which puts her fourth in the league. As for Stanbridge, she currently leads the GSC in ERA with a 0.78 mark in 18.0 innings.

At the plate, Haley Shannon continues to blossom in the leadoff spot for the Tigers. The junior leads the team with a .385 batting average and enters the weekend hitting .450 over the last six games. In the middle of the order, Ella Watson has proved to be the best overall bat in the order for UWA through the first 16 games. The sophomore Outfielder hit two Home runs last weekend against AUM, moving her season total to five along with a .372 batting average.

True Freshman Kayla Morris has been impressive in her introductory season as she enters Saturday's matchup after hitting .400 and two Home Runs against AUM. Morris is one of the best power bats in the order, bringing a stat line of .282 BA, three Home Runs, and 11 RBIs into this weekend's series.

As for Christian Brothers, they've struggled to begin the year. The Bucs began the season 2-1, before dropping eight of their next nine contests. CBU is hitting .263 as a team which ranks last in the GSC while their 5.04 ERA ranks eighth in the league.

While Christian Brothers' offense has struggled as a whole, Marin Beeson and Ashley Williamson have put together solid starts to their 2026 campaign. Beeson, a junior Outfielder, leads the team with a .387 batting average along with a .406 on-base percentage. As for Williamson, she's a sophomore Infielder who's hitting .308 to begin the season.

In the circle, Emily Schooler may be the best player on CBU's roster. The senior Right-Hander is 2-2 on the year with a 1.89 ERA in 40.2 innings thus far. Schooler thrives at limiting damage but has dealt with some control issues. The senior has surrendered 20 walks this season, and has allowed three or more base on balls in five of her seven appearances.

Winners of seven of their last eight games, West Alabama looks to continue building momentum while Christian Brothers hopes to get their season on track this weekend.

Game One is set for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Game Two to follow at 3:00 p.m. The series will conclude with Game Three on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
