Box Score 2 TYLER, Tex. - The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis team defeated UT Tyler, 4-2, on Day Two of UT Tyler's home invitational.
West Alabama (6-2) did all their damage in singles play after dropping the doubles point to UT Tyler (5-2) to begin the match.Â
Jian Ibrahim garnered the first point of the day for the Tigers as she defeated Maria Antonio Ortega in straight sets, (6-1, 7-6). Nanoka Kazama followed suit in Line Four with a (7-6, 6-2) win over Carla Rodier.Â
With UWA now leading 2-1, Valentina Mutilba pulled out a three-set win in Line Two. Mutilba took care of the Patriots' Natalia Gorzny (0-6, 6-4, 6-4). In Line Six, true freshman, Theodora Stancescu clinched the match for West Alabama with a (6-1, 5-7, 6-3) decision over Claudia Di Leonardo.
West Alabama's Men's team also faced off with the Patriots and fell 4-0.Â
UWA will conclude this weekend's play on Sunday with a 10:00 a.m. matchup against Cameron.
