LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Softball's Ann Marie Stanbridge has been named the GSC Player of the Week for the third consecutive week.
Stanbridge earns this honor for the third straight time after leading UWA to a 5-0 week with sweeps coming over Columbus State and Lee. The senior becomes the first player within the GSC to win a weekly award in three consecutive weeks since 2012 when Valdosta State's Alanna Hadley was named the GSC Pitcher of the Week for four consecutive weeks.
In five games on the week, Stanbridge hit .500 at the plate along with two home runs and six RBIs. In the Tigers' sweep over the Flames this past weekend, the first baseman/pitcher hit .625 with two homers and six RBIs.
The senior is easily one of the hottest players in the country at the moment. With the results of this past weekend, Stanbridge is now hitting .571 with seven home runs and 17 RBIs in the last 12 games as she barrels towards another All-GSC selection. With eight games left in the regular season, Stanbridge is batting .351 with eight home runs and 33 RBIs.
Stanbridge and the Tigers will be back in action today for a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader against Georgia Southwestern.
