LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama softball team will put its seven-game winning streak on the line this weekend against UAH at the UWA Softball Complex.
Game one is set for Friday at 2:00 p.m., with game two to follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opener. The series will conclude Saturday, with game three scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
West Alabama (35-10-1, 20-7 GSC) enters the weekend after sweeping its midweek matchup against Georgia Southwestern. UAH (31-17, 15-12 GSC) comes into the series after dropping two of three games to Trevecca Nazarene.
This weekend's matchup between the Tigers and Chargers presents an exciting clash of styles. UWA features one of the top pitching staffs in the region, while UAH brings one of the league's most potent offenses into Livingston.
The Tigers have quickly emerged as one of the top teams in the region. At 35-10-1, UWA continues to gain national recognition. West Alabama has consistently found ways to win, hitting .299 as a team while posting a 2.26 team ERA.
Ann Marie Stanbridge leads the offense, as the senior has earned GSC Player of the Week honors in three consecutive weeks. Over her last 14 games, she is hitting .512 with seven home runs and 17 RBIs, raising her season average to .343. She is on pace to earn the second All-GSC selection of her career and continues to be one of the toughest outs in the country at present.
Ella Watson, Kayla Morris, Trinity Hatcher, ShaKeria Washington, and La'taviona Parke have each hit seven or more home runs this season while maintaining batting averages of .279 or higher. Haley Shannon and Trinity Brooks have also been exceptional contact hitters, helping UWA field one of the conference's most well-rounded offensive units.
In the circle, Eleanor De Block and Megan Roe are both closing in on All-GSC honors. De Block has been one of the region's top starters, compiling a 19-8 record with a 1.73 ERA, 133 strikeouts, and a .175 opponent batting average. She ranks among the top five in the conference in wins, ERA, strikeouts, and opponent batting average. The senior is the reigning GSC Pitcher of the Week and is 4-0 with a 0.52 ERA over her last four starts.
Roe has also been outstanding, posting a 12-1 record with a 2.58 ERA. She enters the weekend after throwing a shutout against Georgia Southwestern.
UAH has consistently been a contender near the top of the GSC, and 2026 is no exception. The Chargers currently sit fifth in the conference standings and boast one of the league's top offenses.
UAH is hitting .314 as a team, ranking second in the conference. Sophomore Mia Brown is among the league's top hitters, carrying a .413 batting average with three home runs and 35 RBIs into the weekend. Alexa Douthitt is another key contributor, hitting .372 with three home runs and a team-high 38 RBIs.
Jill Cockrell, Hannah Temple, Brittany Slaten, and Kylie Ballentine are all hitting well above .300, presenting a significant challenge for UWA's elite pitching staff.
While known for its offense, UAH is also solid in the circle. The Chargers hold a 3.22 team ERA, ranking fourth in the league. Katie Bracken leads the conference and ranks 17th nationally with 158 strikeouts, posting a 12-8 record and a 3.10 ERA. Megan Shurtz leads the team with a 2.54 ERA and holds a 12-6 record.
All eyes will be on this key GSC matchup as the Tigers and Chargers open the series Friday.
