Tigers Hold Strong in Latest ITA Rankings, Reside in Top Seven in Region Rankings

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama men's and women's tennis programs continue to make their presence felt on the national stage, as both teams remained ranked in the latest ITA Poll with movement across multiple individual and doubles rankings.

The West Alabama women's team checked in at No. 5 in the nation this week, sliding slightly while continuing to hold a firm spot among the country's elite. On the men's side, the Tigers remained steady at No. 16 nationally, maintaining their position following a competitive stretch of matches. In the Region Rankings, UWA's Women's team is ranked fifth while the Men's team sits at No. 7.

For the men, several individuals continue to represent West Alabama in the national spotlight. Matias Iturbe remains inside the top 25, ranked No. 24 in singles, despite not competing during the spring season. The graduate still holds a strong 6-2 record from the fall campaign.

Gabriel Garay continues to climb with a No. 36 national ranking, posting a 9-6 overall record in singles play, while Jacob Tapia checks in at No. 46 with an impressive 13-7 mark this season.

In doubles, Tapia and Federico Iturbe have emerged as one of the top pairings in the nation, ranked No. 20 with a dominant 15-2 overall record. The duo has been a key factor in West Alabama's success, consistently setting the tone early in matches.

On the women's side, the Tigers boast one of the deepest lineups in the country, with five players featured in the national rankings.

Leading the way is Shaira Rivera, who climbed to No. 6 in singles after compiling an 11-6 record and continuing to perform against top-tier competition. Alexa Milliam remains a steady presence in the top 25, ranked No. 16 with a 17-9 record.

West Alabama's depth is further highlighted by Valentina Mutilba (No. 55, 14-7), Jenaila Prulla (No. 56, 18-4), and Nanoka Kazama (No. 70, 16-4), giving the Tigers one of the most balanced lineups in Division II.

In doubles, Rivera and Milliam continue to rank among the nation's best, holding the No. 3 spot nationally with a 15-2 record. The pair has been dominant throughout the season, providing a consistent advantage in doubles play.

With both programs firmly positioned in the national rankings and multiple individuals earning recognition, West Alabama continues to solidify itself as a contender on both the conference and national levels as postseason play unfolds.
