LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama Softball's Eleanor De Block was named NFCA Second Team All-Region on Friday.
De Block earns the first All-Region selection of her career after putting together one of the best individual seasons in UWA Softball history in 2026.
Although her 2026 campaign is not over yet, De Block has already established herself as one of the top pitchers in school history and one of the best in the country. This season, the senior broke West Alabama's single-season complete game shutout record with 11. In 39 appearances, De Block holds a 25-9 record with a 1.60 ERA, 173 strikeouts, a 1.00 WHIP, and a .168 opponent batting average across 192.1 innings pitched. She ranks among the nation's top 10 in complete game shutouts, ERA, and opposing batting average, while also ranking in the top 25 in WHIP, strikeouts, and wins.
Throughout the season, the right-hander recorded complete game shutouts against Miles, Christian Brothers, Delta State, Union, Columbus State, Lee, UAH, Mississippi College, and Valdosta State. In addition, De Block registered five or more strikeouts in 20 of her 30 starts, further solidifying her status as one of the top pitchers in the country. In her complete game shutout against Miles, the senior also recorded a no-hitter, the first of her career.
De Block adds NFCA All-Region honors to a 2026 résumé that already includes First Team All-GSC recognition, a GSC All-Tournament Team selection, and multiple GSC Pitcher of the Week honors. The senior is poised to add even more accolades as the postseason continues through May and June.
De Block and the Tigers are currently in the midst of an NCAA Tournament run and will resume play Friday with a noon matchup against UAH.
