LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Track and Field's J'Da Williams and Dedric Hicks are set to begin their journey's at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor National Championships in Emporia, Kansas.
Williams will compete in the 100m on Thursday with the preliminaries slated to begin at 6:25 p.m. CST. The 100m finals will take place on Saturday at 5:05 p.m. CST. Hicks will compete for the Shot Put Title on Saturday at 3:45 p.m. CST.
Williams comes into the NCAA Nationals as one of the top freshman and sprinters in the country. The freshman hit an NCAA provisional five different times during the outdoor season, with her best mark coming at the Ole Miss Relays on March 20. During the Ole Miss Relays, Williams crossed the finish line with a 11.34 time which stands as a personal best, the seventh fastest time in the country, and the second fastest time in UWA History. The sprinter enters Thursday's prelims off the heels of winning three medals at the GSC Championships, including her championship winning performance in the 100m event with a time of 11.49.
As for Hicks, he'll compete for the Shot Put title on Saturday after turning in an unbelievable outdoor campaign. The senior hit an NCAA Provisional in two different meets this year, including a season best mark of 17.46m coming at the Falcon Classic on March 13. Hicks is the reigning Indoor and Outdoor GSC Shot Put Champion and will look to carry that momentum into Saturday.
