LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Track and Field program collected more Academic Awards on Monday as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the recipients of the Division II All-Academic awards on Monday.
Both the Men's and Women's team were named All-Academic, by accumulating a 3.0 GPA or higher. Individually, Dedric Hicks, D'Kota Hudson, and Jocelyn Randle were named USTFCCCA Division II All-Academic for their work in the classroom and on the track and field.
Hicks now adds this accomplishment to an already impressive track and field resume. The senior was one of the top shot putters in the country this past season, advancing to the NCAA Division II Championships after winning the GSC Championship in the event in both the Indoor and Outdoor season. Hicks held the top eight marks in the GSC, including a season-best mark of 17.46m. In the classroom, Hicks is an Exercise Science major.
Randle made an immediate impact on the track and the classroom in her first year at UWA. On the track, Randle is a standout sprinter and led West Alabama to a pair of GSC Championships. The freshman helped the Tigers to a GSC Championship in the 4x100 in the outdoor season after guiding them to a Championship in the 4x400 in the Indoor season. Along with this, in the 100m at the Outdoor GSC Championships, Randle placed fifth with a season-best time of 12.00. In the classroom, the freshman is a Health Science major.
Similar to Randle, Hudson claims the first All-Academic award of her career, coupling it with a GSC Honor Roll selection that she garnered earlier this year. On the track, Hudson was one of the Tigers top sprinters as she competed in the 100m and 200m events. The freshman turned in season-best times of 12.47 in the 100m and 25.33 in the 200m. Hudson also competed in the 4x100m at the GSC Championships and helped West Alabama to a conference championship in that event. In the classroom, Hudson majors as a Health Science major.
Hicks, Randle, and Hudson are slated to return to West Alabama in 2026-27.
