LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The University of West Alabama softball team's Eleanor De Block and Ann Marie Stanbridge were named First Team All-GSC on Wednesday.
De Block earns the first All-GSC selection of her career, while Stanbridge notches her second.
Although the 2026 season is not done for West Alabama, De Block has already delivered an all-time year. The senior is one of the top pitchers in the country, compiling a 22-9 record with a stellar 1.51 ERA, which ranks 14th nationally, along with a 1.00 WHIP. The right-hander has also recorded 153 strikeouts, ranking third in the GSC and 32nd in the country. De Block is holding opposing batters to a remarkable .169 average, which leads the conference and ranks among the best in the country. Additionally, the West Alabama ace has recorded 11 complete-game shutouts, leading all of Division II and setting a new UWA single-season record.
As the Tigers enter the GSC Tournament, De Block is at the top of her game, having allowed just three earned runs over her last 57.0 innings of work.
Stanbridge also put together an outstanding 2026 campaign, turning her season around midway through the year to secure another All-GSC selection in her illustrious career. Near the halfway point of the 2026 campaign, Stanbridge was hitting .277 with just one home run before going on one of the most memorable hot streaks in UWA history. Over the final 20 games of the regular season, the senior hit .448 with eight home runs and 20 RBIs, boosting her overall totals to a .338 average, nine home runs, 35 RBIs, a .617 slugging percentage, a .428 on-base percentage, and a 1.045 OPS. Stanbridge also impressed in the circle, recording a 2.76 ERA in 58.1 innings pitched.
During that stretch, Stanbridge was named the GSC Player of the Week in three consecutive weeks, becoming the first player in the conference to accomplish that feat since 2012. Additionally, in 2026, the senior became West Alabama's all-time career leader in home runs (49), RBIs (194), and total bases (416).
De Block and Stanbridge have etched their names in UWA history as two of the program's greatest players. With 2026 First Team All-GSC honors added to their résumés, the Tigers' standout duo is ready to lead West Alabama into the GSC Tournament.
