LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Football's Elijah Guyton was named to the Fred Mitchell Award Watchlist ahead of the 2026 season.
The Fred Mitchell Award Watchlist highlights the top Place Kickers in the country across the FCS, Division II, Division III, NAIA, and NJCAA. Guyton is one of 12 Division II kickers who were selected to the Watchlist and stands as the only member of the Super Two Region to be acknowledged.
Guyton comes into the 2026 season as a redshirt junior. The Place Kicker is a back-to-back All-American honoree along with being a back-to-back First Team All-GSC selection. In 2025, Guyton continued to strengthen his case as the top Place Kicker in the country. The redshirt junior nailed 11-12 Field Goals with his only miss being a block. In the season finale against Northeastern State, Guyton buried a 51-yard Field Goal which stands as his career-long and one of the longest kicks made of the 2025 season within Division II.
Along with 11 made Field Goals, the Place Kicker was also perfect on PATs, putting 37 of those through the uprights. At the end of the year, Guyton ranked third in the GSC in points with 70.
Guyton and the Tigers will open up their 2026 campaign in August 30 for a Red Tails Classic Matchup against Tuskegee that will air live on ESPN2 at 7:00 p.m.
