ExLIVINGSTON, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference released their Preseason All-GSC team on Wednesday and 11 University of West Alabama Football Players were selected to the team.

This year, the Preseason All-GSC team was compiled into one team, with UWA earning the most selections in the league with 11. West Alabama's Brayden Jenkins, TD Parker, Ben Newton, Barrett Cain, Mason Hiller, Exavier McDowell, Anthony Oatis, Lake Gurley, Chrissean Jones, Jacobi Green, and Elijah Guyton all earned the recognition.

Jenkins, Parker, Newton, Cain, and Hiller are slated to be the leaders on the offensive side of the football for the Tigers in 2026. 

Jenkins will lead a loaded backfield for UWA after turning in the best season of his career in 2025. The Running Back ranked seventh in the league in rushing yards with 433 while finishing third in rushing yards per game with 61.9. Jenkins also added seven touchdowns, running behind an offensive line that was led by Newton, Cain, and Hiller. 

Newton, Cain, and Hiller catapulted West Alabama's rushing attack as their work in the run blocking department led to the Tigers leading the GSC in rushing yards per game with 198.6. Led by the trio of Newton, Cain, and Hiller, UWA's offensive line was also stellar in pass blocking, only allowing nine sacks last season. 

Out wide, TD Parker takes claim as one of the top returning receivers in the conference. In 2025, Parker finished sixth in the GSC in receiving yards with 490 on 25 receptions. The fifth year added four touchdowns to his ledger as he's slated to lead a Wide Receiver room that was overhauled this offseason.

On the defensive line, McDowell and Oatis pick up Preseason All-GSC honors. The duo combined for 11.0 tackles for loss , 4.0 sacks, and 12 QB hurries in 2025. McDowell served as UWA's most productive D-Lineman last season, finishing the year with 23 total tackles, 3.0 sacks, and 6.0 tackles for loss.

Gurley is the top returning Linebacker for West Alabama. The senior picks up his first Preseason All-GSC selection after providing solid depth at Linebacker for the Tigers last season.

The reigning GSC Defensive Freshman of Year resides in the Defensive Back room for West Alabama in Chrissean Jones. Jones played in six games last year and made the most of his opportunity, shutting down opposing Wide Receivers. The rising sophomore is joined on the Preseason All-GSC team with fellow DB, Jacobi Green. Green was one of four Tigers to record an interception last season and is slated to make a big impact in 2026.

Guyton returns to West Alabama in 2026 as one of the top place kickers in the country. Guyton is a two-time All-American and a back-to-back First Team All-GSC selection. Last season, the Kicker nailed 11 of 12 field goals, with a career long of 51 yards coming in the season finale against Northeastern State.
