LIVINGSTON, Ala. - After an impressive performance against Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, the University of West Alabama Football's Legend Doggett has been named the D2Football.com National Defensive Player of the Week.

Doggett adds this national honor to the GSC Defensive Player of the Week acknowledgment that he garnered on Monday.

In UWA's 34-23 win over Lenoir-Rhyne in Hickory, North Carolina, Doggett turned in a defensive performance for the ages. The Cornerback recorded two defensive touchdowns, with both coming in the fourth quarter. The first defensive score came early in the fourth quarter with UWA trailing, 23-17 and the Bears driving into West Alabama territory. Doggett scooped up and a returned a fumble for a touchdown that was forced by Joseph Harper. A possession later, the Graduate deflected a pass that ended up in the hands of Issaiah Parrish for an interception before ending the game with an 80-yard pick-six on the following drive to virtually end the game. 

For the game, Doggett recorded two defensive touchdowns, two fumble recoveries, one interception, and 3.0 tackles, earning the status of National Defensive Player of the Week.
