LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's tennis team will return to the courts after 11 days away from competition as UWA has added a match with NCAA Division I foe UAB on Wednesday in Livingston, Ala.
The Tigers moved to 18-8 overall after picking up wins over Alabama A&M and Stillman College on April 9 and 10 respectively. UWA awaits word from the NCAA Division II Tennis Committee on April 28 on its post season fate. The Red and White are looking for its second-straight NCAA South Regional appearance after entering the post season for the first time in the program's history in 2009.
The Green and Gold Blazers (12-8) wrapped up Conference USA schedule with a 4-1 win over Tulane. In its last outing, UAB dropped a 5-2 decision to Alabama. The Blazers enter the C-USA Tournament in Houston, Texas on Friday as the No. 5 seed.
Wednesday's duel with UAB marks the third NCAA Division I opponent that the Tigers have squared off with this season. The Red and White have recorded wins over Jackson State and Alabama A&M.
